Yesterday, Malal Raouf, the Trade Union Confederation of Productive, was kidnapped in front of the Central Post Square, after a protest rally calling for the departure of the pro-Bouteflika’s regime, taking him to an unknown destination.
This arrest has aroused a widespread resentment among the trade unionists and civil society, considering it as an irresponsible and illegal decision and which represents a direct threat to the individual freedoms and trade union rights.
The Secretary-General of the confederation, Abdelkader Kawafi, called for the intensification of protests and strikes in the Central Post Square to ask for the release of Malal.
For his part, the International Federation of Industries condemned the kidnapping Malal, considering it as an unjustified decision, asking the Algerian authorities to release him immediately and to respect the right to protest.
