Tunisia: ‘Environment and Gardening Company’ workers in Tataouine protest


The newspaper 'Achaab' reported in its latest issue that the Regional Labor Union in Tataouine governorate announced its support with the ‘Environment and Gardening Company’ workers and accused its administration and the supervisory authorities to be responsible for the current situation.

In a statement, the Union called on all parties concerned to intervene quickly so that the Company can resume its activities and its employees benefit from all their rights.

The company workers organized a protest rally on October 10 running in front of its headquarters to call for the closure of the administration and the work stoppage because of the nonchalance of the administration, the Ministry of Industry and the Tunisian Enterprise of Petroleum Activities (ETAP) in the face of trade union requests.

The 'Achaab' newspaper noted that the company workers called for a salary increase, improved working conditions and a special bonus for the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The protesters He also denounced the ongoing and illegal wage levies, the delay in the payment of salaries and bonuses, arbitrary promotions and appointments and attacks on trade union leaders.
