New agreement between Bahraini and Nigerian trade unions to protect migrant workers

The Nigerian Confederation of Labour and the General Federation of Workers Trade Unions in Bahrain agreed to cooperate to protect human and labour rights of African migrants in general and Nigerians in particular in Bahrain. The new cooperation will also include ways in which trade unions can contribute to the safe return and reintegration of migrants. The increase in migration flows from Niger to Bahrain in recent years and the increase in cases of human rights violations of African workers in the Middle East and Bahrain, especially with the health crisis, have made this cooperation necessary. Trade unions need to contribute to the organisation of foreign workers in order to protect the rights of workers in their host and home countries.
