Deadly workplaces: Work-related fatalities surpass war casualties, particularly in the Arab region The World Day for Safety and Health at Work, celebrated annually on April 28, is dedicated to promoting global efforts to prevent occupational accidents and diseases. This day serves as a reminder to commemorate workers who have lost their lives or have been injured at work, since it was first initiated by the trade union movement in 1996. Since 2003, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has been commemorating this day by promoting safety and health at work through tripartism and social dialogue.
