The war in Yemen has led to the loss of various jobs, while those that have been preserved are often precarious and poorly paid. Daily-wage workers, who typically rely on temporary and informal employment, are particularly vulnerable. They confront challenging working conditions, a lack of social protection, and inadequate wages to support their families' needs.

On August 21st, workers in sector 10 of the oil company Petro Masila protested against the administration’s indifference towards their demands.

The Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate has denounced the repression of journalists, some of whom are still being held in prisons controlled by Houthi militias. The Syndicate also called for the cancellation of the death sentences passed on journalists Abdel Khaleq Omran, Tawfiq el-Mansouri, Akram el-Walidi and Harith Hamid. It also warned about the state of the health of journalist Tawfiq el-Mansouri, who is being held by the Houthis, demanding that he be transferred to hospital for treatment.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) stated that around 43,000 irregular migrants are stranded in Yemen, which has been at war for eight years.

The Aden Refinery Company’s workers union decided to put an end to the strike that started several days ago, after reaching an agreement with the administration.
