The flip side of the repercussions of climate change poses serious threats to workers and the workplace.
War extends beyond battlefield boundaries to profoundly affect the bodies and psyches of women, and the war in Palestine is no exception. According to UN assessments, nearly 70% of the victims of Israeli strikes are women and children. For more than five months, women have been forced to flee via dangerous roads while carrying white flags to avoid being targeted. They endure long hours of waiting to reach health facilities and risk their lives for basic medical examinations.
As we approach the year 2023, anticipated to be the hottest ever recorded on Earth, international deliberations for COP 28 commence on Thursday, November 30, in the United Arab Emirates, with the overarching goal of mitigating climate change.
Violence against women and girls remains one of the most widespread human rights violations globally. Nearly one in three women, approximately 736 million, has experienced physical, sexual, or both forms of violence from an intimate partner or others. It is mainly widespread in the workplace and the digital space. The Covid-19 pandemic, conflicts, and climate disruptions have further exacerbated this alarming phenomenon.
