After demonstrations organised in 9 governorates of the country on 18 February, demonstrations after which the General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), Esther Lynch, was expelled from Tunisia on the orders of the President of the Republic, the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) is organising a protest march in Tunis on 4 March to denounce the deterioration of the socio-economic situation, the government’s disengagement from the agreements signed with various syndicates, and the restrictions on trade union freedoms.

The cycle of sectoral negotiations between the waste management companies and the Syndicate of Municipal Agents, part of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), ended at the beginning of February with the signature of the annex n°3 amending the sectoral joint agreement of the solid and liquid waste management companies.

Following the failure of the negotiation session of the central reconciliation committee, which was held on 8 February to examine the strike notice calling for the release of the secretary-general of the Hughways Syndicate, the syndicate has maintained the strike planned for 12, 13 and 14 February in all the toll stations of the country.

The Syndicate of Medical Professions held a protest in front of the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government in Tripoli on 6 February to call for the payment of salaries that have been blocked for over seven years.
