Glovo Workers Rise Up Against “Goat Life”, Call on Unions to Protect Them from Exploitation
Casablanca – Date: July 21, 2025
On Monday morning, the headquarters of the Moroccan Labour Union (UMT) in Casablanca witnessed a protest gathering by workers of the Glovo delivery platform, demanding immediate union protection against what they described as “goat-like working conditions.”
The protesting workers reported being deprived of their most basic rights and documented the deaths of several colleagues who received no compensation. They called on trade unions to intervene and protect them from increasing exploitation.
The protest triggered a strong reaction within the union. UMT officials received the protesters, expressed solidarity, and called for the opening of strategic dialogue channels to improve the worsening working environment — one which they say lacks even the minimum standards of occupational safety and health.
This mobilization is part of a growing wave of protests across the digital services and delivery sectors, reflecting the mounting pressure on workers and the absence of social protections that preserve their dignity in the face of escalating exploitation.
