Wael Alany pointed out that no less than 200,000 Iraqis leave the country every year to seek medical care in neighbouring countries, due to the decline of health services in the public and private sectors. He added that the annual expenditure of Iraqis in treatment abroad is enough to fully rehabilitate the country’s health sector, adding that the problem lies in the immigration of medical cadres abroad.
