The Arab Trade Union Confederation Expresses Concern Over the Bus Accident in Nag Hammadi and Calls for Ensuring Workers’ Safety

Cairo – October 13, 2025

The Arab Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) has expressed deep concern over the tragic accident that occurred this morning in Nag Hammadi, Qena Governorate, where a bus carrying Aluminum Factory workers overturned near the entrance of Sheikh Ali village in the northern part of the governorate, resulting in injuries to 20 workers, several of whom are in critical condition.

The Confederation stressed the urgent need to provide safe transportation for workers and to strictly adhere to occupational safety standards to prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents. It also called on the relevant authorities to promptly investigate the causes of the accident and take the necessary legal measures.

Security and ambulance teams acted swiftly to transport the injured to Alumininum Hospital and Qena University Hospital for the necessary medical care. A report was filed, and the Public Prosecution was notified, while the Criminal Investigation Department has launched an inquiry to uncover the circumstances of the incident.

The Arab Trade Union Confederation affirms that the protection and safety of workers is a top priority. It calls for strengthening preventive measures and ensuring the enforcement of safety standards in all workplaces and means of transportation, in a manner that guarantees decent work and human dignity for all workers.
