The Moroccan Labour Union (UMT) is the first trade union organization established in Morocco. It was founded on March 20, 1955, and played a pivotal role in the country’s liberation from French colonial rule. The union led numerous struggles, most notably the events of December 1952, during which many workers and trade unionists lost their lives while protesting the assassination of Tunisian union leader Farhat Hached. UMT includes a wide range of sectors, with particular strength in education, transportation, and public health.

The Moroccan Labour Union is one of the founding members of the Arab Trade Union Confederation.
